Kenyan Chef Maliha Mohammed’s ambitious attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon faced an unexpected hurdle when she experienced a medical issue after crossing the 111-hour mark. The current record stands at 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds, held by Alan Fisher from Ireland.
Maliha began her marathon on November 15, aiming to surpass Fisher’s record and keep supporters updated on her progress. However, her determination was met with a medical emergency, leading to her being attended to by medical staff while unconscious, as captured in a video on her Instagram stories.
Despite the setback, Maliha expressed resilience, affirming that the emergency would not mark the end of her culinary marathon. In a written statement, she declared,
I am a conqueror and a marathon runner. Nothing is bringing us down; to the finish line, we go.”
