Iyanya, a renowned artist from Calabar, has praised the people of Calabar for their commendable unity and civic responsibility in swiftly recovering the stolen pendants of fellow artist Mayorkun.
After Mayorkun expressed his reluctance to visit Calabar again following the theft of his valuable necklaces, Iyanya took to Twitter to appeal to his fellow Calabar residents for assistance.
Expressing disapproval of the act, Iyanya highlighted that such behavioIr was uncharacteristic of the typically peaceful people of Calabar. He emphasized that Mayorkun was brought to entertain the community, and it was their responsibility to ensure his protection and extend warm hospitality.
Iyanya committed to resolving the matter amicably, urging anyone with information about the theft to return the pendants. He promised personal compensation and specified that the items could be dropped off at the hotel where Mayorkun was staying. Iyanya reiterated his intent to reward the individual responsible for the return.
Shortly after, Iyanya expressed his gratitude for the swift response from Calabar residents, announcing that the first pendant and necklace had been recovered. Today, he shared the news that the second pendant had also been found, extending sincere thanks to the people of Calabar for their integrity and assistance in recovering the stolen items. The pendant was returned to Hit FM Calabar and received by Mr. Duke Emmanuel, who facilitated the transfer of the recovered pendant.
