Kelechi Iheanacho, a Leicester City attacker, will join the Super Eagles squad on Saturday, according to head coach José Peseiro.
Iheanacho, who is rehabilitating from a muscular ailment, could not attend Nigeria’s pre-2023 Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The 27-year-old was originally slated to join the Super Eagles in Lagos on Tuesday, but will now go to Abidjan this weekend.
Peseiro also gave an update on OGC Nice’s forward, Terem Moffi.
Moffi was a late replacement for Bayer Leverkusen player Victor Boniface, who was forced out of the competition due to a groyne injury sustained during training.
According to the Super Eagle Gaffer, that Moffi would meet up with his colleagues in camp on Sunday.
Speaking with NFF TV, Peseiro said:
“Moffi arrives January 14th because he will play on 13th with the team.
“Kelechi arrives (January) 13th, we are in contact with the (Leicester City’s) physiotherapist, with the medical staff. We have contact with all the staff of our players.”
