Media personality Betty Irabor recently took to Instagram to share a harrowing experience of how a supermarket attempted to overcharge her by a whopping N41,000 during a grocery shopping trip.
According to Betty, she was initially billed N65,455 for what she thought were a few items, causing her to feel regret for potentially overspending. However, upon mental calculation, she realized that her purchases should not have exceeded N40,000. Curious about the discrepancy, Betty decided to review her receipts as she left the supermarket.
To her shock, she discovered that she had been charged N49,740 for a salmon fillet, an item that originally cost around N8,000. Infuriated by the attempted rip-off, Betty rushed back into the supermarket, expressing her dissatisfaction to the supervisors and shoving the receipts in their faces. After a heated exchange, the supermarket attributed the error to a system glitch and issued an apology, confirming that the actual cost of the salmon was N8,000.
Betty Irabor shared her disbelief about the incident and proceeded to caution others to remain vigilant, especially when shopping or engaging in transactions.
In May 2022, Betty Irabor had previously opened up about her battle with depression, sharing photos of herself during and after the challenging period. She expressed gratitude to her family, therapists, and God for helping her overcome the eight-year struggle and embark on a journey to recovery.
