Mikel Arteta has dismissed rumors of his departure from Arsenal at the end of the season. Contrary to reports in Spain linking him to the Barcelona job, Sky Sports News reveals that the 41-year-old manager has affirmed his commitment to the Gunners until the summer of 2025.
Speculation arose after Spanish publication Diario AS claimed Arteta had signaled his openness to leaving the Emirates, coinciding with Xavi’s announcement of stepping down as Barcelona’s head coach. The latter decision followed Barcelona’s 5-3 defeat at home to Villarreal, leaving them 11 points adrift of LaLiga leaders Girona.
Since taking over from Unai Emery in 2019, Arteta, previously a member of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at Manchester City, has led Arsenal to FA Cup success in 2020 and a return to the Champions League after a six-year absence.
With 124 victories in 210 matches as Arsenal boss, Arteta’s declaration provides stability for the North London club as they aim to build on their recent successes.
