The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has deployed 2,000 policemen to the state’s Ikono, Ini, and Ibiono Ibom local government areas in preparation for the February 3 federal constituency by-election.
SP Odiko Macdon, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement made on Friday in Uyo, the state capital.
Macdon stated that mobility in impacted local government districts will be restricted between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., with only INEC personnel, health professionals, and security agents permitted to circulate.
He encouraged citizens to use their right to vote without fear of molestation or harassment.
He did, however, warn perpetrators of violence to avoid voting places or face the repercussions of their conduct.
