In a recent Instagram post, Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan resumed her call-out against former label boss Jude Okoye, shedding light on her ongoing royalty disputes.
Sharing a photo of a car gifted to her in 2013 under mortgage by Okoye, Morgan highlighted financial discrepancies within their professional relationship.
Morgan revealed that despite Okoye’s claims of her owing him money and lacking productivity under his label, she received substantial payments for performances at renowned events like Coke Studio and Star Trek, totaling millions of Naira. She emphasized her silence should not be mistaken for naivety, insisting on her rightful royalties for intellectual properties.
This isn’t the first time Morgan has spoken out against Okoye. In 2020, she alleged him of seizing her social media accounts and stripping her of her name upon leaving the label, which Okoye refuted with evidence.
The dispute escalated further as Morgan’s former manager, Joy Tongo, released the contract signed by Morgan in 2013, refuting claims of her name loss and revealing a 50-50 sharing formula. Morgan continued her accusations, claiming Okoye owed her N7 million and wishing him suffering.
In response, Okoye sarcastically dismissed Morgan’s claims, comparing them to being owed by Dangote, Nigeria’s wealthiest man. He downplayed Morgan’s accusations, suggesting they might not hold merit if shouted too long.
Undeterred, Morgan took legal action against Okoye, demanding a full account of income and expenditure related to her intellectual property during their tenure at Northside Entertainment. The current status of the court case remains undisclosed, leaving the public in anticipation of its resolution.
