Nigerian dancehall artist Cynthia Morgan, now known as Madrina, has stirred controversy by slamming rapper Odumodublvck over recent comments made on social media.
In a now-deleted post on her Instagram, Madrina called out Odumodublvck for claiming inspiration from someone without acknowledging that person’s role in paving the way for him. She also remarked on the state of affairs in the country and humorously commented on Odumodublvck’s name, suggesting it suits his appearance.
This altercation stems from Odumodublvck’s recent shade thrown at veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, who had credited himself for paving the way for artists like Wizkid and Burna Boy. Eedris claimed his activism in the industry led to better treatment of Nigerian artists worldwide. In response, Odumodublvck dismissed the idea of anyone paving the way for him, attributing his success solely to God and not human influence.
The debate escalated as Paul Okoye criticized Eedris for his remarks, highlighting past grievances and accusing him of betraying the industry. Meanwhile, rappers Ice Prince and Skibii were captured on video mocking Eedris during an interview, further fueling the controversy.
Madrina’s rebuke of Odumodublvck adds another layer to the ongoing discourse surrounding the influence and contributions of artists in the Nigerian music industry.
