Leicester City Women’s Manager Sacked Amid Alleged Player Relationship

Leicester City Women’s Football Club has terminated the contract of manager Willie Kirk after an internal investigation revealed an alleged relationship between Kirk and a player. Kirk was suspended during the investigation and subsequently relieved of his duties following missed matches, including the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Liverpool.

Interim charge of the team has been handed to Jennifer Foster and Stephen Kirby, with Leicester yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. This marks the second instance this season in the Women’s Super League where a manager has been sacked due to such allegations, following Sheffield United’s dismissal of Jonathan Morgan earlier.

Leicester, currently positioned ninth in the WSL, have faced challenges throughout the season, winning only four out of 17 games. Foster and Kirby are expected to lead the team in their upcoming matches against Aston Villa and in the Women’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham on April 14th.
