Nollywood actress Mosun Filani has finally opened up about her extended hiatus from the movie industry, explaining that her decision was driven by her desire to prioritize her children over her career.
Last year, the actress announced her return to acting after a prolonged absence. In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Mosun disclosed that she took a break to focus on raising her kids, acknowledging the rapid passage of time and the importance of being present during their formative years.
Business was not my priority. I decided to take that break. I took a long break for the kids to grow up. For how long do they stay with us? When a child is in the University, he or she is no longer under the parents’ care, take it or leave it. So, how many years do you have to spend with your children? To train them?” Mosun shared.
She emphasized the importance of proper upbringing, especially in the age of social media, where negative influences are rampant. Many fans commended her for her decision, appreciating her dedication to motherhood.
Last year, Mosun had urged scriptwriters, producers, and directors to send her scripts, indicating her readiness to resume her acting career. This decision came after years of focusing on her family and business ventures, a choice she made following her marriage to politician Kayode Oduoye. Her husband’s political aspirations initially influenced her decision to step away from acting to maintain a certain lifestyle required by his career.
Now back in the spotlight, Mosun Filani is eager to balance her roles as a mother and an actress, demonstrating that family and career can coexist with the right priorities.
