Bewaji Zainab Badmus, wife of the controversial Nigerian singer Portable, has stirred the internet by opening a new supermarket.

Bewaji shared the news via her Instagram story, showcasing congratulatory messages and a clip of her new store, Omobewaji Supermarket. Notably, the store’s name does not include any reference to Portable, sparking mixed reactions from netizens.

Some social media users questioned if Bewaji’s decision might provoke a reaction from Portable, while others speculated that Portable was the one who funded the supermarket. Comments ranged from concern to humour, with one user stating,

You wan make Portable close the shop abi?”

The couple’s relationship has been tumultuous, with public disputes making headlines. Last month, Portable and Bewaji unfollowed each other on Instagram, hinting at marital strife. Bewaji had posted a cryptic message about being a queen and dealing with ungrateful people, which Portable took issue with. He demanded respect, asserting that she was nothing without his name, leading to a heated exchange.

Their conflicts have previously played out online, including an incident on Bewaji’s birthday when Portable demanded she change her caption that referred to herself as “Queen of Herself.” Despite the friction, the couple reconciled in May, celebrating with a trip to Nairobi, Kenya, and sharing loved-up videos.
