Nollywood actor and director Tobi Makinde, widely known as Tinini (Timini) from the acclaimed series “Jenifa’s Diary,” took to Instagram to share insights on personal growth amidst speculation of a rift with his mentor, Funke Akindele.
In a thoughtful post accompanied by photos of himself, Timini delved into the theme of progress and the inevitability of change. Quoting George Bernard Shaw, he emphasized the importance of embracing change, asserting that it is essential for any meaningful progress to occur.
Late in 2023, rumours surfaced suggesting a strained relationship between Funke Akindele and Timini, with reports hinting at Akindele’s alleged attempts to restrict Timini’s creative pursuits. Observers noted a lack of interaction between the two on social media platforms, fueling speculation about a possible fallout.
However, Timini recently expressed admiration and gratitude towards Akindele, debunking rumours of mistreatment. He credited Akindele for nurturing his talent and acknowledged her significant role in his career growth. Reflecting on their longstanding professional relationship, Timini reminisced about their collaboration on “Jenifa’s Diary,” where he served as Akindele’s Personal Assistant.
Akindele, known for her groundbreaking achievements in the Nigerian film industry, notably achieved the milestone of producing the first Nollywood film to gross over a billion naira within a short timeframe.
