Nigerians have criticized Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, and his wife, Annie Idibia, following their daughter Isabella’s emotional outcry against social media bullying.

Recently, Isabella Idibia took to TikTok to share her struggles with body dysmorphia, posting teary-eyed photos and detailing how online bullies taunted her about her size. Some critics urged her to hit the gym, while others claimed she wasn’t fat, leaving Isabella feeling conflicted and distressed. She poured out her heart on social media, sparking widespread reactions.

Netizens quickly placed blame on her parents for exposing her to social media at a young age, arguing that she is not mature enough to handle the accompanying criticism.

One user, pristinemary, commented,

See Wetin social media don cause! When I Dey her age I just wan chop without worries.” Another user, nikki__ex, wrote, “Feeling this way at this young tender age is really crazy… her parents need to get her off social media for now.”

Others echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that her parents should be more involved and protective. Kellytrigger1 addressed 2Face and Annie directly, saying,

@official2baba @annieidibia1 I don’t know if this is content but please pay attention. She’s perfect and beautiful.” Msfavoured added, “Omg! Social media is so unhealthy. You are just perfect, sweetheart. Don’t let them bully you. I think her parents need to do more. Tell her how amazing and different she is.”

Some users offered more detailed advice, with Ms_chrysos stating,

“Where are parents? This is when she needs them the most…get her phone away from her, steal her away from school, take her on a self-recovery trip and tell her how beautiful she indeed is and if it’s convenient, get her into therapy. She needs Jesus too.”

Despite the backlash, Annie Idibia recently celebrated Isabella’s success as the youngest teen YouTuber in Nigeria. Isabella reached 5,000 subscribers on YouTube, making her the Nigerian teenager with the highest number of subscribers. Proud of her daughter’s achievement, Annie took to her Instagram story to praise Isabella, highlighting her determination to grow her YouTube channel independently.

The incident has sparked a broader discussion about the impact of social media on young people and the responsibilities of parents in managing their children’s online presence.
