A 24-year-old protester was shot and killed during rallies in Kenya against the current taxation plan.

The dead were alleged to have taken part in a demonstration in Nairobi, the country’s capital, on Thursday evening, during which thousands of people marched to the streets.

The demonstration occurred in response to a heated parliamentary discussion and voting on the contentious legislation.

According to a lawyer for the family, the man was shot in the leg by police and died from enormous blood loss.

The victim did not receive timely medical assistance for more than 20 minutes.

One of the protest leaders requested that people come to the hospital mortuary on Friday to demonstrate sympathy with the deceased’s parents.

Amnesty International, a human rights group, stated that at least 200 people were injured during Thursday’s protests in Nairobi alone.

Many Kenyans are concerned that the new tax law would cause their living expenses to skyrocket, rendering them unmanageable.

Entrepreneurs and company owners are likewise concerned about major financial losses owing to falling buying power.
