Nollywood actor Kanayo Kanayo has issued a stern warning and a clarion call to Nollywood movie producers concerning fast-rising actress Angel Unigwe.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, the veteran actor accused the actress’s mother of unprofessional behavior, alleging that she holds movie producers to ransom.
Kanayo revealed that he had previously heard reports about Angel Unigwe’s mother but did not believe them until he experienced it firsthand. He recounted an incident where he had engaged the services of the actress for an upcoming movie and made an agreement with her mother, which she later breached. According to Kanayo, Unigwe’s mother took her daughter away at 9 PM on the agreed date, disrupting the production schedule.
I am making this video to protect the entertainment industry in Nigeria. A particular woman has been holding producers to ransom, and it is unfortunate it has happened to me. Unfortunately, she is Angel Unigwe’s mother. A contract is breached by every producer, orally or written, and it’s all respected, but I found out that immediately this woman takes money from you, everything changes. She took her daughter at 9 PM when the particular date we agreed on hadn’t expired. She came at 9 PM and took her daughter.”
He emphasized that her mother has been a recurring problem for many producers and urged them to maintain professionalism by steering clear of such complications.
Earlier this week, Nollywood producer and actor Ani Amatosero, known as Effixzzy Boss, lamented about colleagues owing her millions for unpaid jobs. She pleaded for them to pay her or risk exposure. Similarly, a few weeks back, Etinosa Idemudia cried out over being owed by Pere. She later revealed that she had been paid in full and advised him on professional respect. Idemudia also mentioned that multiple producers had complained about Pere, urging them to reclaim their money.
