SUPERVISING PROCESS ENGINEER
the incumbent to serve as a Supervising Project Engineer on a large project
Overview
Why Does This Position Exist? Supervises a group of five or more Engineers plus design personnel, usually in one discipline, by directing technical engineering assignments and coordinating project staffing assignments. Education and experience over several years must be sufficient in order for the incumbent to serve as a Supervising Project Engineer on a large project or several smaller projects.
Major Accountabilities Of Position: Priority What – How – Why Responsibility % of total job 1 To ensure Health, Safety and Environment has the highest priority in all activities undertaken by Engineering and Design personnel. Directly reponsible for output. 5% 2 Generate scenarios for PSV sizing. And size PSV for complex cases like multiphase: supercritical case etc Directly reponsible for output, may be shared with other Engineers, depending on project 10% 3 Develop complex P&ID from the scratch.
Generate man-hour estimates for proposals. Directly reponsible for output, may be shared with other Engineers, depending on project 15% 7 Perform Process studies and Capacity checks independently and generate study reports. Directly reponsible for output, may be shared with other Engineers, depending on project 10% 8 Function as Discipline project Supervising Engineer on medium to large projects,assuming responsibility for the work of the group. Directly reponsible for output, may be shared with other Engineers, depending on project 5% 9 Plan, direct and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring large-scale expenditure of man-power and financial investments Directly reponsible for output, may be shared with other Engineers, depending on project 5% 10 Conducts surveys, studies and site investigations.
Qualification
- Related tertiary qualification in Chemical engineering or related field with above 15 years of related working experience.
- Professional Engineer registration is required. Ability to perform as a job leader is preferred.
- Be able to carry out some complex calculations with ability to use at least two (2) design/calculation software
- An excellent working knowledge of latest applicable codes and standards, design practices and design quality standards.
- Computer skills particularly of process simulation packages such as HYSYS, PRO/11 and FLARENET and in commercial software including databases, spreadsheets and word processing packages.
- Good report writing skills
- Front End Design experience covering project scope development.
- Proficient in PC Skills (including CAD, Microstation CAD systems if applicable)
- Requires communication skills to be able to successfully work in a team environment and communicate effectively with other disciplines.
- Produces accurate work and demonstrates attention to detail
- Demonstrates initiative, driven to continually improve own performance and able to work independently and with teams.
- Works under general supervision of Lead Discipline Engineer
- Makes informed decisions when appropriate
- Works to a given schedule
- Proficient budgetary responsibility
