Yoruba Nollywood stars gathered in large numbers to support their colleague, Faithia Williams, as she laid her father to rest.

The actress had announced her father’s passing on Instagram in April, expressing deep sorrow and praying for his soul’s peace. A week later, she held an Islamic burial for him, attended by a few colleagues, and shared her gratitude with the public.

On Sunday, July 21st, 2024, Faithia hosted the final burial ceremony in Ikorodu, Lagos State, with many notable personalities in attendance.

Among the guests were legendary Fuji singer Pasuma, former NURTW chairman MC Oluomo, and Nollywood stars like Iyabo Ojo, Mercy Aigbe with her husband Kazim Adeoti, Saidi Balogun, Seyi Edun, Femi Adebayo, Ijebu, Adebayo Salami, Biola Bayo, Liz Anjorin with her husband, Yomi Fash Lanso, Bimbo Oshin, Bimbo Thomas, and Kunle Afod. Others present included Omowunmi Ajiboye, Dele Odule, Yinka Quadri, Bimpe Akintunde, Toks Barbie, Kiitan Bukola, Hadiza Abubakar, Toyosi Adesanya, Peju Ajiboye, Yewande Adekola Abiodun, and more.

Fans were particularly moved by the presence of Iyabo Ojo, who had previously been at odds with Faithia. Clips from the event showed Iyabo and Faithia embracing and conversing as Iyabo generously showered money on Faithia. This public display of reconciliation touched many fans, who expressed their joy at seeing the two actresses together again.

Here are some comments from fans:

– Toluwani Moje: “So happy to see both of them together jovial. E sweet me die. I miss their sisterhood of those times.”
– Phummie Fyn Face: “Nice seeing both of them together.”
– Fifi Orginalb: “See as Iyabo spray her money without drama. No show-off thing.”
– Abigail Okpozor: “I too love Queen Mother.”

Iyabo Ojo and Faithia Williams had a falling out after Faithia allegedly leaked information about Iyabo’s near-death experience during surgery. Iyabo publicly called out Faithia on her 51st birthday, accusing her of being a witch. Despite Faithia posting a condolence message when Iyabo’s mother passed away, Iyabo did not acknowledge it, leading Faithia to delete the post.

Their feud was finally resolved in January 2022, thanks to the intervention of Nollywood actor Mr. Latin and MC Oluomo. They publicly declared their reconciliation on Instagram, though they expressed disappointment at not following each other back on the platform.

Faithia’s ex-husband, Saidi Balogun, also attended the burial, showcasing a united front. In videos shared online, Saidi was seen interacting with guests and later joined Faithia on stage, showering her with money. This display of support from Saidi further melted the hearts of fans, especially since their divorce had been quite public and messy.

Following the event, Faithia took to Instagram to express her gratitude. She shared photos and a heartfelt message thanking Iyabo Ojo for her support. Iyabo, in turn, posted about the event, referring to Faithia as her sister and praying for her father’s soul to rest in peace.

Faithia Williams’ father’s final burial was not just a moment of mourning but also a testament to the solidarity and support within the Yoruba Nollywood community. The public reconciliation of Faithia and Iyabo, along with the support from her ex-husband Saidi Balogun, highlighted the importance of unity and forgiveness in times of grief.
