Social media users are divided following Nollywood actress Dakore Akande’s disclaimer over her alleged relationship with Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Controversial Instagram blogger Gistlover had made a list of some top Nigerian female celebrities, including Dakore, who are allegedly side chicks of the Senate president. Dakore issued a disclaimer, debunking claims of sleeping with the Senate president, reminding the public that she is happily married. She stated that she had never met Akpabio in person, considering the allegations baseless and malicious.
The movie star threatened legal action and surprisingly offered N5 million to anybody with evidence that she dated the Senate president.
I’ve not been online. I started getting calls and text messages this morning alerting me to a very wicked lie from the pit of hell. I must say I am very disappointed, shocked, and appalled. I want to categorically state that I’ve never in my life met the Senate President.
I have not had any cause to see him or to be in the same room with him, not to talk of being one of his side chicks. I’m married, happily married, and I have two beautiful children. I have always been above board in my dealings with anyone, and for a jobless, wicked blogger to put my name amongst women who have been with this man is totally wicked and totally unfounded! It is a lie from the pit of hell, and I am ready for any legal action because, this time, you have messed with the wrong person! I keep to myself, I mind my business, and do my work and for someone to want to tarnish my hard-earned name and image for some clicks? No way! I’m not going to stand for it, and I’m not going to accept it! I am not going to be quiet about it!
I want to put it out there right now. Anybody who can say I have been with this man, that you have video or audio evidence, I will give you N5 million right now! I am not joking! I am very serious because I have worked too hard for my name and my reputation for someone to now wake up in the morning and want to cause wahala in my life! I reject it! I stand against it! It’s a lie from the pit of hell! I have never seen the Senator before, and I will not allow anyone to tarnish my name any further.”
While many defended the movie star, others believed she was pretending.

Dakore Akande made it to the list of alleged side chicks of Senator Godswill Akpabio, according to Gistlover’s Blog. Dakore Akande denies allegations that she was Senator Akpabio’s side chick. The actress took to social media almost immediately to debunk the rumours, expressing just how surprised she was over the unfolding events.
Dakore Akande issues a cease and desist letter against Gistlover blog. She also mentioned that she would be taking legal actions against Gistlover blog, and it seems that she stuck to her word.
In a recent turn of events, Dakore Akande released a letter of cease and desist against Gistlover blog, and it read;
We act as legal representatives for Mrs Dakore Akande (“Our Client”) and write regarding the subject matter aforementioned.
It has come to our attention that a suggestive and libellous post bearing our Client’s image and likeness emanated from a social media platform via this Instagram handle: “@Gistloversblog” as well as other associated handles @Gistloversblog_mediaoutlet and @Gistloversblog_mediahouse.
This letter serves as a formal cease and desist notice demanding that you immediately remove the incriminating post containing a picture of our client falsely connecting her to the Senate President of the National Assembly of Nigeria; Senator (Dr) Godswill Obot Akpabio as well as false remarks on Instagram. Let it be on record that our client is happily married to Mr. Akande and has been for many years, earns an honest living as an actor and media personality and has never met the said Senate President in person or otherwise.
Such libellous information has the potential to tarnish our Client’s reputation. Your actions in spreading such misinformation are both damaging and unlawful. You will refrain immediately from making any further defamatory statements about our Client.
Your slanderous remarks are actionable under the law per the provisions of Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act. Failure to comply with this demand will leave us with no choice but to pursue aggressive legal actions against you. These actions may include seeking damages, injunctive relief, and legal costs incurred due to your defamation. We expect your full and prompt compliance with this cease and desist demand within the next 24 (twenty-four) hours of receiving this notice. We shall monitor the situation closely to ensure corrective action is taken.”
