Brymo Stirs Controversy with Call for Legalized Abortion and Parental Accountability

Nigerian singer Brymo has ignited a heated online debate by advocating for the legalization of abortion and the enforcement of parental responsibility laws.

In a thought-provoking post shared on social media, Brymo argued that making abortion legal would allow for more responsible decisions about childbearing and ensure that parents are legally bound to care for the children they choose to keep.

Brymo wrote,

Let abortions on all safe levels be legal, so that folks may be enforced to stay and raise the kids they bring forth by law. There is too much of letting adults walk away from commitments they pretended to be partaking of a while before. Abortion being legal may then let us decide properly what child to keep, and the law to stay and raise them may then exist for knowing that no child may be abandoned!!”

His message quickly garnered widespread attention, with social media users expressing a range of opinions. Some supported Brymo’s stance, arguing that legalized abortion could prevent unwanted pregnancies from turning into neglected children. Others, however, disagreed, citing moral, ethical, or religious reasons for opposing abortion.

One user, vickthourrr, commented,

It shouldn’t sir, if the Lady doesn’t want the child, she can simply drop the child in an orphanage home. When she now establishes herself, she can start to look for the child. It might be that child is the only one she’ll ever have.”

Another commenter, angie_may27, added,

As a lady, don’t get pregnant for a guy that’s not ready for marriage to avoid damaging your womb in the name of abortion.”

The discourse also attracted more liberal views, such as from taiwo_junzi, who wrote,

Of course, it should be legalized. I don’t see why a government that will not cater for children should have a say on whether a woman chooses to keep a baby or not.”
