Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has expressed his disappointment after being indefinitely suspended from The African Men Entertainment Kings (AFRIMEK).

The club, which is chaired by actor Femi Adebayo, made the announcement on social media, stating that Johnson was no longer allowed to participate in the club’s activities or portray himself as a member due to alleged misconduct.

ADENIYI JOHNSON is hereby suspended indefinitely from the club (AFRIMEK). He has no right to portray himself as a member and is estopped from club activities. This decision is borne out of gross misconduct and breach of the club’s constitution,” the statement read.

In response to the news, Johnson took to social media to express his sadness and concern over the impact of the club’s post on his reputation. He acknowledged that while he is not bigger than the club, there was an Adeniyi Johnson before AFRIMEK, and the post could cause significant harm to his name, family, and brand.

It saddens my heart that my honorable club made such a derogatory post about me!! Please note I am not bigger than the club, but before the club, there has been Adeniyi Johnson. If care isn’t taken, that post will do lots of harm than good!” he lamented. Johnson further revealed that the calls and messages he received following the post were worrisome, especially since his wife was unaware of the situation until the post was made.

He implored his family, friends, and fans to remain calm and continue showing their unwavering love and support. Johnson expressed his gratitude to those who have stood by him during this challenging time, including several of his Nollywood colleagues.

Notably, actors like Joseph Momodu, Alesh Sanni, Bimpe Akintunde, and Bakare Zainab showed their support in the comment section of his post. “My man,” wrote Joseph Momodu, while Alesh Sanni added, “My brother. We move.” Bimpe Akintunde encouraged him to “stay calm,” assuring that the issue would be resolved soon.

Johnson also expressed appreciation to veteran actor Dele Odule, whom he praised as a father, teacher, mentor, listener, and leader for his intervention in the matter.

This incident marks the second time AFRIMEK has taken disciplinary action against a member. Last year, the club suspended actor Shoneye Olamilekan, popularly known as Papa Showw, for physically assaulting his colleague Temidayo Morkinyo. AFRIMEK, in a letter signed by Femi Adebayo, distanced itself from Papa Showw, stating that his actions did not align with the club’s values. Following the suspension, Papa Showw publicly apologized and promised to avoid repeating such behavior.
