Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw recently took to social media to express her frustration following an encounter with the Nigerian Police.

According to Kate, the incident occurred while she was driving along a roadside in Oniru, Lagos State, where she noticed a police van parked nearby.

When the police officers stopped her, Kate rolled down her window to inquire about the issue, only to be accused of driving one-way in violation of traffic regulations. The actress explained that many drivers, including herself, had been using that route due to ongoing road repairs. She added that if the road had been fixed, the public should have been informed before positioning a police van to arrest unsuspecting drivers.

Kate described how the argument with the officers dragged on until she eventually got out of her car to speak with them directly. It was at that point that some of the police officers recognized her and decided to let her go without further issues.

Her concern, however, was for everyday Nigerians who might not have the privilege of celebrity status. She questioned how the situation might have escalated if she hadn’t been recognized.

Kate Henshaw also condemned the police for their behavior, saying it is incidents like this that contribute to the public’s lack of respect for law enforcement in Nigeria.

Netizens rallied behind the actress, echoing her frustrations and sharing their own grievances about the conduct of Nigerian police officers.

  • @ksolo_hitz added: “Nigeria police needs more orientation on how to carry out their duties, always looking for opportunities to harass and extort.”
  • @thriveebi commented: “Kate too fine, I can’t concentrate on what she’s saying. Woman fine, come get sense.”
  • @fadenekan said: “They allow you to make that mistake on purpose so they can extort you. Some even ask you to pass, then stop you ahead. Nigerian police are not good people.”

The conversation around police misconduct in Nigeria continues, and Kate Henshaw’s experience has once again brought these issues to the forefront.
