Nigerian singer and activist Seun Kuti has stirred up conversations with his bold statement about sex and relationships, particularly addressing Nigerian women.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Seun emphasized that sex is a mutual act and not something one person gives as a favor, except in the context of prostitution.
He argued that sex is a natural human experience that both men and women enjoy equally. According to Seun, viewing sex as a favor creates an imbalance in relationships, and only prostitutes engage in transactional sex, which, he added, is not necessarily a bad thing.
No one gives anyone sêx except a prost!tute. Sêx is a mutual act. It’s not a favor, and u didn’t do anything; I just had sêx – a natural act that caves women and cavemen did. Nigerian women s3x isn’t a favor except u are a prost!tute and that also isn’t a bad thing,” Seun wrote.
Surprisingly, his message resonated with several social media users, who shared their own thoughts in the comments section.
One user, One Peaceful Baddie, agreed, saying,
He said nothing but the truth but these days my gender always act like we doing men a favor by opening our two legs for them like we don’t enjoy sêx too lol.”
On the other hand, others pushed back on his statement, with one user, Cytantomy, calling it “a statement from the pit of hell,” arguing that sex is only meant for married couples.
The discussion around sex and relationships has always been a hot topic on social media. Last year, media personality Solomon Buchi addressed the issue, warning that those who engage in premarital sex are simply “fornicating,” not dating. His statement drew strong reactions from the public, especially from conservative circles.
Meanwhile, a popular doctor, Rasheed, made headlines during an interview with Classic FM, where he encouraged men to engage in sexual activity at least 21 times a month to reduce their risk of prostate cancer. He noted that many men are naturally polygamous, which might help them achieve this target.
Adding to the conversation, BBNaija reality star Ifu Ennada once shared her thoughts on Christians boasting about their sexual prowess. She warned that Christians promoting sin were leading people astray, emphasizing that it is wrong to openly brag about engaging in sinful behavior.
