Still basking in the joy of becoming a mother, Yoruba actress Debbie Shokoya took to social media to celebrate her first month of motherhood.

Sharing a throwback video from her pregnancy, Debbie couldn’t contain her excitement and gratitude as she marveled at God’s blessings in her life. The actress, who welcomed her daughter a month ago, described herself as a living testimony, acknowledging that all her prayers were answered.

In her Instagram post, she thanked God for giving her a new name as a mother and emphasized that her past traumas and difficult experiences do not define her. She wrote,

Which Of God’s Blessings Will I Deny?? His Ways Are Marvelous!! I Am A Living Testimony. All I Prayed For Was Answered And More… He said, ‘Just Trust Me!!’ He Gave Me A New Name And I Am Grateful.”

Debbie Shokoya continued to gush over her daughter, whom she lovingly referred to as  Mummy K.” She shared,

Today Makes It A Month I Became ‘MUMMY K’. Mother To The Best Human I Have Ever Met!! Most Beautiful Eyes I Have Ever Seen!! The Best Cuddle I Have Ever Had. The One Whose Touch, Smile, And Cry Melts My Heart.”

Debbie’s journey to motherhood hasn’t been easy. Last year, the actress experienced the heartbreaking loss of a pregnancy at eight months. She tearfully recounted the experience in an emotional Instagram post, describing how she had bonded deeply with her unborn child before the loss. Despite the trauma, Debbie expressed her belief that her past hardships do not define her and that God’s timing is always perfect.

Earlier this year, Debbie released a movie dedicated to her lost child, where she admitted that although the experience was deeply painful, it ultimately made her stronger. She credited the strength she now possesses to her child, saying,

My dead child made me realize I could sacrifice without giving a second thought.”

In early September, Debbie and her husband held a naming ceremony for their daughter, attended by close friends and colleagues, including fellow actress Dayo Amusa. The couple named their daughter Khairat Ayokunmi Ejalonibu, a name Debbie proudly revealed in an Instagram post.

Weeks before the birth, Debbie shared how her pregnancy journey had been marked by both challenges and miracles. She revealed that at one point, she was told she had high prolactin, a condition that could make pregnancy difficult. However, instead of despair, God turned the situation around and blessed her with a pregnancy. Throughout the journey, Debbie leaned on her faith and now celebrates the joy of holding her miracle baby in her arms.
