Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has issued a wake-up call to social media users, urging them to stop living in the digital world and start confronting real-life issues.

Taking to her Instagram page, the actress shared her concerns about the rise of “keyboard warriors” who seek public sympathy and temporary fame on social media instead of facing their problems directly.

Mary lamented the days when people would address their issues in person through honest conversations, stating that today’s tendency to avoid direct confrontation is why nothing changes. She stressed that while social media offers a platform for venting, real change happens in the real world.

Wake up! Social media isn’t REAL. Stop living in it. REAL is REAL,” she emphasized, adding that no one truly cares about others’ struggles on social media.

In a similar vein, comedian Ayo Makun recently shared his thoughts on social media’s influence, comparing it to a new King Kong where feelings trump objective facts, and ignorance is often celebrated.

Mary Njoku has consistently questioned the way celebrities and individuals engage with social media, previously asking what life would look like after the fame fades and whether they have a real life to fall back on.
