Patrick Doyle, the ex-husband of Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle, has shared a thought-provoking message directed at men on handling public humiliation, especially from former partners.
The veteran broadcaster took to his Facebook page to offer advice on how men should react when their dignity and ego are bruised by those with whom they once shared intimacy.
Doyle emphasized that in moments of hurt, especially when a humiliating snub or gesture is involved, the best course of action is to pause, consult God, and avoid reacting in public. He explained that responding impulsively in the heat of the moment only worsens the situation, prolonging the humiliation and providing unnecessary entertainment for onlookers.
Sharing the experience of a dear friend who was recently humiliated by his ex-wife, Doyle expressed empathy but refrained from endorsing his friend’s public reaction. He pointed out that airing grievances in public only extends the shelf life of the anguish, as both the wise and the foolish feast on the situation.
Doyle referenced a Yoruba proverb:
The world should never see the perspiration of a husband on the chest of his wife,” suggesting that personal matters, whether involving a current or former partner, should remain private.
He added,
An anguish he should have surrendered to God, who would have consoled and restored his dignity in no time. In my opinion, no one must have the power to trigger me into handing over my anguish to a mixed multitude for their perverse entertainment.”
Weeks ago, Patrick Doyle also commented on Davido’s logistics manager, Isreal DMW’s marital drama. He criticized men who engage in public or social media disputes with former partners, stating that it takes a low-life man to involve the world in such personal matters.
