Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has come to the defense of controversial activist Very Dark Man (VDM) in light of his ongoing saga with rapper Falz.
Recently, Very Dark Man released an audio recording featuring Bobrisky, in which the crossdresser alleged that some unnamed EFCC officers collected N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges against him. Bobrisky also claimed that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son assured him they could get the charges dropped and keep him out of prison.
In response to the allegations, Very Dark Man accused Falz and his father, Femi Falana, of being behind Bobrisky’s troubles. Both Falz and his father denied the claims and threatened legal action unless VDM publicly apologized.
In the midst of this controversy, Rita Edochie took to her Instagram page to voice her support for Very Dark Man, labeling him a “well-meaning activist.” She praised his dedication and work, offering prayers for his continued growth and strength. Edochie advised VDM to remember that the truth can be painful for some to accept, leading them to harbor hatred.
Describing him as her “great son,” Edochie reassured VDM that God supports him and that his efforts are acknowledged by the world. She stated that while haters may arise, he is becoming stronger than any negativity they can throw at him.
I ONLY TALK ABOUT TRUTHFUL PEOPLE, KNOW THIS AND KNOW PEACE. I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE, BUT I AM STILL GOING TO SAY IT A THOUSAND AND ONE TIMES: A VERY DARK BLACK MAN IS A WELL-MEANING ACTIVIST; ARGUE WITH YOUR KEYPADS, MUCH AS HE ALWAYS SAYS HE IS NOT AN ACTIVIST,” she wrote.
She continued,
THIS GREAT SON OF MINE HAS PRACTICALLY ASSUMED THE DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS OF THOSE IN POWER AND AUTHORITY. WE ARE ONLY A FEW PERSONS WHO ARE WAY TRUTHFUL IN THIS COUNTRY, AND VERY DARK MAN IS ONE AMONG THE FEW.”
Edochie concluded her post by encouraging VDM to remain steadfast in his efforts and disregard societal criticism, stating,
YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY GENUINE BACKING SUPPORT, GREAT SON; HENCE YOU’RE DOING WHAT IS RIGHT.”
