Israeli army attacks Hamas command centre in Gaza

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said early Monday that its air force had hit a Hamas command centre in the Gaza Strip.

According to the IDF, the command centre is located in the Deir al Balah neighbourhood of central Gaza, integrated within the Shuhada al-Aqsa hospital.

Earlier, the army claimed to have bombed Hamas command centres at a former school and mosque in the same neighbourhood.

The IDF stated that several precautions had been taken to decrease the risk to civilians before the “precise” strike.

According to the IDF, the command centres were used to plan and execute terrorist operations on Israeli soldiers and the state of Israel.

IDF claimed this was another example of Hamas’ systematic exploitation of civilian infrastructure, which violates international law.

Recall that the crisis began precisely one year ago, when gunmen from the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement and others attacked Israel, murdering over 1,200 people and holding approximately 250 hostages.

Israel reacted with huge assaults, killing more than 41,800 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Hamas makes no distinction between militant and civilian casualties.
