Nollywood actor and producer Afeez Owo has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother-in-law, Funmi Martins, marking 22 years since her passing
Taking to Instagram, Afeez shared a touching video of the veteran actress on set and expressed gratitude to God, praying for her to continue resting in peace. “After 22 years, continue to rest on Anike Funmi Martins,” he wrote.
In the comment section, Nollywood stars like Fausat Balogun, Kemi Korede, and fans also honored Funmi Martins’ memory with kind words and prayers. This tribute follows Mide Martins, Funmi’s daughter, who celebrated her mother’s life last year with a memorial prayer attended by prominent figures like MC Oluomo and Adebayo Tijani. Mide has often spoken about how her mother will always live in her heart.
In 2021, U.S.-based actress Ashabi Olorisha had called out Mide for allegedly neglecting her mother’s graveyard. Mide defended herself, stating that she was handling things in her way and didn’t owe the public any explanations. Following the backlash, Mide visited her mother’s grave with family members, a visit which sparked reactions on social media.
