Veteran Yoruba actress Lola Idije has finally addressed the swirling rumors regarding her junior colleague, Biodun Okeowo, allegedly snatching her daughter’s husband.
The rumour was ignited by controversial Instagram blogger Gistlover, who claimed that Biodun, popularly known as Omoborty, had taken her husband from Lola’s daughter.
Earlier, Biodun Okeowo had responded to these claims in a video, firmly denying any connection between her husband and Lola Idije’s daughters. The actress explained that her husband had never met any of Lola’s daughters and only knew the veteran actress through her. She also called on her colleague, Tosin, to clear the air, as the situation had led to unnecessary tension.
In a recent post on her Instagram page, Lola Idije addressed the rumours, confirming that Biodun Okeowo never snatched her daughter’s husband. She revealed that she had attended Biodun’s wedding, which would have been impossible if the rumors were true. Additionally, she emphasized that the first time she spoke to Biodun’s husband was when the actress introduced him to her via a phone call. None of her daughters, she stressed, know him personally.
I want to address the story going around and to clear the air. The first time I spoke to Omoborty’s husband was when she introduced him to me on a phone call. I did not know him before that, and none of my daughters know him personally. Biodun did not snatch my daughter’s boyfriend. I attended her wedding, and there is no way I would have done that if the rumors were true,” Lola Idije clarified.
Following Lola Idije’s defense, Biodun Okeowo expressed her appreciation for the veteran actress. Taking to her Instagram page, she thanked Lola for speaking the truth and reiterated how the internet never forgets. Biodun shared how important it was for her to clear the air for the sake of her family, her sanity, and her fans.
Thank you so much, ma, @lola_idije1959, for speaking the truth on this matter. I had to speak up for myself, my children, unborn children, husband, in-laws, families, and my true fans. As they say, the internet never forgets, and I don’t want to be remembered for something that does not define me,” Biodun wrote.
This is not the first time Biodun Okeowo has had to address rumors regarding her love life. In the past, she was accused of having a romantic relationship with skitmaker and actor, Cute Abiola. The accusations came with leaked chats, which Cute Abiola’s wife shared on social media, showing a conversation where Omoborty allegedly asked about his intimate performance. Biodun responded to the claims by holding a Bible in a video and cursing those who spread false rumors about her.
After Lola Idije cleared the air, several Nollywood actors and fans praised her for her honesty and for stepping in to support her colleague. Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola was among those who praised Lola, commenting, “Abiamo tootoo. God bless you, ma.”
