Bauchi State Government has expressed concern over the increasing proliferation of unregistered private schools around the state.
The government alleged infractions of established norms and regulations that regulate private schools’ operations.
Dr Jamila Mohammed Dahiru, Commissioner for Education, discovered on Tuesday at the launch of a Task Force Committee to handle unregistered private schools in the region.
Dahiru, while meeting with members of the Taskforce shortly after the inauguration, said:
“This is one of the efforts of the state government to address the problems associated with the proliferation of unregistered private schools and the non-compliance with the state guidelines for the establishment of such schools.”
The Commissioner stated that a town hall meeting was organized with school owners, organizations, and other stakeholders to examine the difficulties and form the task force.
Dahiru detailed the Committee’s tasks, which include locating unregistered schools in the state, inspecting these institutions, and making rapid decisions via a Mobile Court.
Furthermore, she stated that the Committee will look for measures to monitor compliance, take appropriate actions to promote adherence to private school laws and include persons who may help it carry out its purpose.
