The Federal High Court, Gusau Division, Zamfara State, has declined to prevent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from delaying its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, October 24, at Wadata House in Abuja.
The court expressly denied the party’s motion to relocate the NEC meeting scheduled for its Abuja National Secretariat, where the party’s leadership battle is supposed to be addressed.
Justice Salim Olasupo Ibrahim, ruling on an ex-parte suit brought by a PDP chieftain in Zamfara State, Mr Imam Auwal, refused to impose an order of temporary injunction preventing the PDP from moving the NEC meeting to October 24.
A certified copy of the order received by journalists revealed that it was signed by the judge.
The PDP leader, through his lawyer Ibrahim Ali, had petitioned the court for an interlocutory injunction against the PDP, preventing it from delaying the scheduled Thursday NEC meeting.
He also requested a court injunction prohibiting the recognition of any NEC meeting other than the one set for October 24.
