Nigerian clergyman Apostle Johnson Suleman has reacted to actress Halima Abubakar’s recent public apology, which came after a tumultuous period of allegations and disputes between them.
Hours ago, Halima issued a heartfelt apology to Apostle Suleman, admitting to defaming him and acknowledging the harm caused to his ministry and family. In her apology, she took responsibility for the falsehoods spread against the cleric and expressed deep regret for tarnishing his image, hoping her letter could help repair some of the damage.
Apostle Suleman addressed Halima’s apology on the micro-blogging platform X, urging people to stop calling his phone. He emphasized that while he is willing to forgive, it doesn’t equate to forgetting, stating,
Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained! AJS.”
The drama between Halima Abubakar and Apostle Suleman began in 2022 when Halima opened up about her alleged affair with the clergyman. She claimed he reached out to her under the pretense of being separated from his wife, leading to a series of proposals and even a wedding introduction, despite her repeated pleas for him to reconcile with his spouse. Following the allegations, Halima’s health reportedly deteriorated, prompting her family to urge Suleman to stay away from her.
In response to Halima’s claims, Apostle Suleman filed a lawsuit against her, demanding N1 billion in damages. The High Court subsequently ordered her to pay N10 million in damages and mandated that she retract her defamatory statements on her Instagram page.
In the midst of the ongoing situation, Nollywood actress Angela Okorie publicly supported Apostle Suleman on her Instagram page. She shared his reaction to Halima’s apology, claiming that his critics have yet to apologize and affirming that God will expose his enemies.
Social media users have criticized Angela for inserting herself into the ongoing drama, with many calling her out for her involvement.
