Award-winning Afrobeat star Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy and one-half of the legendary Psquare duo, has sparked controversy on social media after accusing his producer of stealing his song.
The singer revealed that he had written and recorded a track titled Winning, intended for release next year, only to find out that the same song was produced for and released by his twin brother, Peter Okoye. Paul took to Instagram to question the situation, asking if he should release another version of his own song.
In an Instagram post, Paul expressed his frustration over submitting six songs to their management, only to discover that his lyrics and melodies were being reproduced word for word. Declaring that “the days of manipulation are over,” Paul warned that he would release the original versions of any songs he believed were being misused.
Paul’s grievances drew mixed reactions from fans and followers. While some expressed sympathy for his plight, others criticized him for constantly airing his family disputes online. Comments ranged from suggestions to handle issues privately to expressions of disappointment over the public feud between the once inseparable Psquare brothers.
This is not the first time Paul and Peter have been at odds. The tension between the twins escalated following accusations involving their older brother, Jude Okoye. Paul recently recounted how Peter allegedly had him and Jude arrested by a commission in December 2023, a claim Peter later denied. Peter clarified that his petition was only directed at their elder brother after discovering financial mismanagement and accused Paul of siding with Jude instead of supporting him.
Meanwhile, Paul’s public tribute to his ex-wife, Anita Okoye, added another layer to his personal life drama. Despite finalizing their divorce in 2022, Paul and Anita kept a cordial relationship until their rumored fallout earlier this year. Paul celebrated Anita’s birthday on social media, sharing a heartfelt post that referred to her as “Mama Ejima.” Anita, for her part, expressed gratitude for her journey, emphasizing the importance of growth and resilience.
