The feud between Peter and Paul Okoye of the music duo Psquare is heating up once again. Last week, Paul Okoye accused his twin brother, Peter, and their former producer of stealing his song.
According to Paul, he had written and performed a track titled Winning, intended for release next year. However, he was shocked to discover that Peter had already released the song, produced by the same producer. Paul expressed his frustration, declaring that the days of being manipulated were over and vowing to release his original versions of any songs he claimed were being replicated.
In response, Peter Okoye has come forward with evidence to refute these claims. He shared a recorded phone conversation with the producer, asserting that it was impossible to steal his own creation. In a direct message to Paul, Peter asked for peace and requested that his twin brother allow him to enjoy the success of his new single without negativity.
As the song’s music video garnered over 1 million views in a single day, Peter took to social media to celebrate. He shared further evidence, including footage of himself and the song’s composer teaching Paul how to sing the track. Peter declared, “Call us names, call us childish; it is fine. I understand, but if anyone says anything false about me and I have evidence, then I have a right to defend myself. Let’s stay WINNING. With my full chest! @calypso60music and myself wrote WINNING.”
He also gave special shoutouts to his team, emphasizing the hard work of the producer and co-producers. Peter announced that the Winning team will go live on November 18th, encouraging fans to join in the celebration.
Background Tensions The animosity between the Psquare brothers is not new. In June last year, blogger Stella Dimokokorkus reported a brewing conflict between the Okoye brothers and their elder sibling, Jude Okoye, allegedly over mismanagement of joint funds. In July 2024, another Instagram blogger, Cutie Juls, claimed that Paul and Jude had been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Paul later confirmed the arrest but celebrated his clearance, insisting that his wealth was earned legitimately through his music.
In an interview, Paul revealed his strained relationship with Peter, mentioning an incident in December 2023 when Peter had allegedly gotten him and Jude arrested by the EFCC. Peter has since denied these allegations, expressing disappointment that Paul chose to side with Jude rather than work together to reclaim their top spot in the music industry. Peter accused Paul of repeatedly disrespecting him, his family, and his creative contributions.
