Award-winning music star Davido has publicly apologized to the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba, acknowledging his emotional outburst during the recent political crisis in the state.
In a moment of heightened emotion over the tragic loss of innocent lives, Davido criticized the Commissioner, questioning his commitment to law and order.
Taking to Twitter, Davido acknowledged that his initial reaction was fueled by grief and anger. He admitted to overlooking the Commissioner’s tireless efforts to ensure peace and stability in Osun State, particularly in the lead-up to the forthcoming local government elections.
In memory of the innocent souls lost, my emotions overwhelmed me, as well as those of my friends. At the time, I did not fully appreciate the sleepless nights and efforts of the Commissioner and other security commanders. This was a grave oversight on my part,” Davido stated.
The music star further expressed his gratitude for the police’s dedication to law and order, recognizing their commitment to safeguarding the state. He called on security agencies to intensify their peacekeeping efforts to prevent further bloodshed.
Davido’s involvement in Osun State politics is well-documented, largely stemming from his support for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke. The singer has been a vocal advocate for his uncle’s administration, campaigning actively during the governorship elections and celebrating major state projects.
Known for his outspokenness on national issues, Davido has also criticized political irregularities in other states, urging citizens to hold institutions accountable.
