Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, professionally known as Portable, has found himself at the center of another dramatic episode.
The Ogun State Police Command recently declared the 30-year-old artist wanted over allegations of attacking government officials.
In response, Portable took to Instagram on February 18, 2025, to share his side of the story. In a surprising revelation, he proclaimed himself a madman undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro, Abeokuta.
“I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients. I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief; I help people around me without even looking at their background.”
Portable alleged that his troubles stem from wearing a vest featuring the image of Senator Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi. Addressing Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, he claimed the situation was a conspiracy against him.
The singer further appealed to the government and Nigerians for understanding and assistance, maintaining his innocence and highlighting his charitable acts within his community.
In a show of support, Portable’s wife, Ashabi Simple, took to Instagram, tearfully praying for God’s intervention. She pleaded for mercy for her husband, expressing distress over the unfolding situation.
According to reports, the Ogun State Police Command declared Portable wanted following allegations that he attacked government officials. This comes after a press release issued on February 17, 2025, identified him as a wanted individual, sparking widespread reactions on social media.
Known for his unfiltered lyrics and outlandish behavior, Portable has often courted controversy throughout his career. However, his recent admission of mental health challenges has added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing saga.
