The arrest occurred on Saturday, April 13, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at around 7:25 p.m. Portable was immediately transferred to Ilorin for further questioning, according to the police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi.
“In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the Command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin. Acting on this warrant, operatives from the Command proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, 13th April 2025, where the suspect was apprehended,” Adeyemi stated.
The police also confirmed that Portable’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties, and plans are underway to charge him to court promptly.
The conflict between Portable and Saheed Osupa escalated last month when the Fuji singer accused Portable of copyright infringement, leading to the removal of one of Portable’s songs from streaming platforms. Enraged, Portable retaliated with personal attacks against Saheed, mocking his appearance and questioning his relevance in the music industry.
However, Portable later issued a public apology, attributing his actions to greed and acknowledging his outburst as uncalled for.
This latest incident is one of many controversies that have marked Portable’s career. Known for his fiery temperament, the singer has been involved in multiple disputes since his rise to fame.
Last year, Portable claimed he was attacked and severely beaten by Nigerian-American singer Esquare for failing to perform at a show. Portable alleged that 40 people assaulted him, leaving him with a broken leg. Esquare, however, denied these claims, offering a different account of the incident.
