Nollywood actress Mide Martins has commemorated the 23rd anniversary of her mother, the late Funmi Martins, a beloved veteran in the Nigerian film industry.
Taking to Instagram, Mide expressed heartfelt emotions, describing her mother as a “rare gem” and an “angel in human skin.” Reflecting on her loss, Mide shared how memories of her mother remain vivid and precious even after two decades.

The beautiful and precious memories of you will never be forgotten, and your impact on this world will never be erased. Continue to rest peacefully in the blossom of your creator, ANIKE. Mide’s husband, Afeez Owo, showed his support in the comments, praying for her late mother’s soul to continue resting in peace. Fellow colleagues like Kemi Korede and Dayo Amusa also extended their condolences and love.
This isn’t the first time Mide has publicly honored her mother’s memory. Over the years, she has held prayer sessions and shared heartfelt tributes. Her mother’s legacy continues to influence Mide’s career and life.
However, in 2021, Mide faced criticism from veteran actress Ashabi Olorisha, who accused her of neglecting her mother’s grave. Mide responded by asserting her commitment to honoring her mother in her own way, a sentiment later reinforced with a family visit to the grave.
