Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham is showering praise on her colleague and friend, Mercy Aigbe, after her remarkable win at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Mercy Aigbe took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her standout performance in Farmer’s Bride, defeating the likes of Meg Otanwa, Tina MBA, Ireti Doyle, Ini Dima Okojie, Omoni Oboli, and Darasimi Nadi.
Toyin, excited by her friend’s win, took to social media to celebrate her achievement. She praised Mercy’s performance in Farmer’s Bride, calling it “well-deserved” and “fire.” Toyin wrote, “Yesss, we won. Yess, well-deserved award. She finished work in Farmer’s Bride. Go sis.”
This gesture of support from Toyin comes as no surprise, considering the bond they share. Last year, when Toyin’s movie, Alakada Bad and Boujee, became one of the highest-grossing Nollywood films, Mercy expressed immense pride in her friend’s success. She even predicted that Toyin’s achievements were just the beginning, encouraging her to keep excelling.
Mercy’s accolades go beyond just the 2025 AMVCA, as she has often shown her admiration for Toyin’s work. When Toyin won the Trailblazer Award from Silverbird TV, Mercy described the honor as proof of Toyin’s exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. She expressed her pride in Toyin’s success and emphasized that the recognition was well-earned.
In a recent reflection, Mercy shared her thoughts on her own career journey, highlighting her first AMVCA win. With over twenty years in the industry, she acknowledged the power of consistency, authenticity, and reinvention, which have kept her relevant and constantly nominated. She expressed gratitude for the recognition and for her ongoing ability to touch hearts through her work.
