The Osun State House of Assembly has unanimously endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
The endorsement came during a plenary session where the 26-member Assembly, comprising 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed a vote of confidence in Governor Adeleke.
The motion was initiated by Adewumi Adeyemi, representing the Obokun State Constituency, and seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South State Constituency.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun presided over the session and praised Governor Adeleke’s achievements, particularly highlighting his commitment to the state’s development and his five-point agenda.
Egbedun emphasised that the lawmakers, as representatives of the people, take pride in the governor’s leadership and urged him to continue striving for greater accomplishments.
Simeon Popoola, representing the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, also commended Governor Adeleke, describing him as a genuine and loving individual whose attributes have significantly contributed to his performance.
The endorsement by the State Assembly adds to the growing support for Governor Adeleke’s second-term bid, following endorsements from various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, market leaders, and labour unions.
Notably, over 100 traditional rulers from Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Local Government Areas have declared their support for the governor’s re-election.
Governor Adeleke, who assumed office in November 2022, has been recognised for his impactful governance and dedication to the state’s development.
His administration’s achievements have garnered widespread acclaim, positioning him favourably for the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial election.
