Nollywood star Mercy Aigbe has honoured her late father’s dream by taking on a role in a Benin movie, a wish he always held dear. Speaking at the premiere of My Mother Is A Witch, the actress shared how it was her father’s heartfelt desire for her to star in a Benin film. While he didn’t live to witness this milestone, Mercy expressed confidence that he would have been proud of her accomplishment.
The actress continues to shine brightly in her career. At the 11th edition of the AMVCA, she clinched the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride, surpassing esteemed colleagues such as Meg Otanwa, Tina Mba, Ireti Doyle, and others. Reflecting on her journey, Mercy credited her success to consistency, authenticity, and reinvention, traits that have kept her relevant for over two decades in the industry.
Her achievements extend beyond acting. Mercy made her cinematic production debut with Ada Omo Daddy, which grossed a remarkable ₦187 million, ranking as the third highest-grossing movie of 2023. Building on that success, her second production, Thin Line, brought in over ₦100 million at the box office, solidifying her position as a formidable force in Nollywood.
