Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has officially filed a lawsuit following the spread of false allegations against her, demanding accountability from the responsible media outlets.
Recently, a viral report claimed that the actress reflected on her life, reportedly lamenting that her beauty and charm couldn’t secure her a lasting relationship. The alleged statement suggested that Adunni acknowledged her single status wasn’t due to a lack of worth but the realization that beauty alone isn’t enough to sustain love or build a strong relationship.
One part of the fabricated story quoted her as saying,
I used to be the center of attention – admired, desired, and blessed with a beauty that opened doors. Yet, here I am, still unmarried.”
In response, Adunni swiftly debunked the claim, calling it completely false and warning that she would pursue legal action to protect her name and reputation. Staying true to her word, she has now filed a lawsuit, addressing the spread of defamatory and unverified information.
The actress expressed her frustration with the continued misuse of her name and brand for social media fame. In an official statement, Adunni stated:
I request the immediate cessation of the dissemination of false and unverified information about my character and reputation. Such actions are criminal offences under the Criminal Code and the Cyber Crimes Act.
Section 24 of the Cyber Crimes Act penalizes the creation and spread of false messages designed to cause harm. Similarly, Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act imposes severe consequences for publishing false and defamatory statements.
This publication is completely false. I did not grant this interview. Please take this notice as a final warning to avoid further legal implications.”
