Controversial Nigerian artist Portable has stood up for the Big 3 of Nigerian music—Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido—after social media activist Very Dark Man criticized their public display of wealth.
In a viral Instagram video, the activist questioned the societal contributions of the music icons, accusing them of flaunting luxury cars worth billions while the nation faces economic challenges. He particularly singled out Burna Boy, alleging that the self-proclaimed “African Giant” has grown silent on social issues since achieving financial success.
Portable, known for his outspoken nature, responded passionately in defense of the Big 3. He criticized Very Dark Man’s remarks, emphasizing the philanthropic efforts of the artists. Portable highlighted Davido’s notable donations to charity and Burna Boy’s financial assistance to him, amounting to ₦20 million.
“How can you say that Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy are only buying cars and not helping people? Have you forgotten that Davido donated to charity? Have you forgotten that Burna Boy gave me ₦20 million? You were always drinking pure water before; didn’t you buy a Benz?” Portable retorted in his video.
This isn’t the first clash between Portable and Very Dark Man. Last year, the activist called for Portable’s arrest after an alleged assault at the Felabration event in Lagos. In response, Portable dismissed the accusations, warning that “online madness” differs from “real-life madness.”
Portable further urged his fans to reject online bullying and exploitation, advocating for peace and mutual respect.
