Despite his untimely passing, Omowunmi, wife of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, celebrated him on Father’s Day, honoring his enduring presence in their lives.Taking to her Instagram story, Omowunmi shared a touching photo of Mohbad with their son, Liam. In her message, she expressed that Mohbad continues to show up for them, even in death, and urged him to keep watching over their son.

“Happy Father’s Day to the greatest father that ever lived. Even in death, you still showed up. I feel it all the time, keep watching over Liam.”

Omowunmi’s tribute follows her emotional speech at the Headies award ceremony, where Mohbad was posthumously honored with two awards: Best Street Music (Street Hop Artiste) of the Year and Viewer’s Choice for his hit song Egwu featuring Chike.

During her speech, Omowunmi stated that she doesn’t refer to him as her late husband because his legacy lives on, especially through their son, Liam. She expressed gratitude to the organizers of the awards for keeping Mohbad’s memory alive.

“This means a lot to us. Thank you for honoring his memory and legacy.”

Mohbad, formerly signed to Naira Marley’s record label, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances at

the age of 27. His death sent shockwaves across the music industry and beyond, sparking conversations about artist welfare and mental health.In February, Omowunmi opened up about her struggles following Mohbad’s passing. She revealed the emotional toll of his death, questioning why God took her husband away so soon. She also spoke about ongoing challenges, including disputes over Mohbad’s property and threats she has received from certain individuals, including former associates of the late singer.
