The Kwara State Government has denied reports suggesting that some of its pilgrims participating in this year’s Hajj exercise were stranded in Saudi Arabia.
The clarification came in response to circulating rumours that several intending pilgrims from the state faced logistical challenges, including accommodation and transportation issues after arriving in the holy land.
In an official statement, the state’s Hajj committee described the reports as misleading and unfounded, assuring the public that all Kwara pilgrims were properly catered for and had successfully settled into their designated accommodations in Makkah and Madinah.
The committee emphasised that the state government, in collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), had made adequate arrangements to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for all participants.
The state’s Commissioner for Religious Affairs, who is also part of the Hajj delegation, confirmed that no pilgrim from Kwara was left unattended.
He stated that the government had deployed additional officials to monitor the welfare of pilgrims and address any concerns promptly. The commissioner urged the public to disregard unverified reports and instead rely on official updates from the state’s Hajj committee.
Meanwhile, some pilgrims who spoke anonymously expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, commending the state government for its efforts in facilitating a seamless Hajj experience.
The Kwara State Government reiterated its commitment to the welfare of its citizens, both at home and during religious pilgrimages, and promised to uphold the highest standards of service delivery throughout the exercise.
