Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has strongly condemned the recent killing of 13 indigenes of the state in Anambra, describing the act as barbaric and unacceptable. The victims, reportedly attacked in a communal clash, were said to be pursuing their livelihoods in Anambra before the tragic incident occurred.

In a statement issued by his office, Governor Nwifuru expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased. He emphasised that such violence has no place in a civilised society and called for immediate action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The governor vowed to work closely with his Anambra counterpart, Professor Charles Soludo, and relevant security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into the matter. He stressed the importance of interstate cooperation to prevent further escalation of hostilities and to promote peace among communities.

Governor Nwifuru also urged residents and indigenes of Ebonyi State to remain calm and avoid any form of retaliation, assuring them that the government would take all necessary steps to secure justice for the victims. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Ebonyi citizens, both within and outside the state.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for improved security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Authorities have promised to intensify efforts to maintain law and order while fostering unity among neighbouring states.
