Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has publicly apologised to his wife Natasha, their children, and fans following backlash from a statement he made about men and fidelity.
In a recent episode of Nedu’s podcast, the singer stirred controversy when he claimed that men are not naturally wired to be with just one woman. He said a man can genuinely love a woman but still feel the urge to sleep with others. His comment sparked outrage online, with many accusing him of normalising infidelity.
Now taking full responsibility, 2Baba has shared a video on Instagram where he admitted he went too far. He offered a sincere apology, acknowledging that his words were wrong and do not reflect who he truly is.
“I know I messed up with what I said and I know I’ll probably get cancelled because of it. I apologise to my fans, and most importantly, to my wife—my love, Natasha—and my kids. I’m terribly sorry. That’s not who I am.”
The comment section has since been flooded with mixed reactions. While some fans appreciated the apology, others questioned his sincerity, especially given his past history with infidelity during his marriage to Annie Idibia.
2Baba’s views on relationships have previously come under fire. During an episode of the Netflix reality show Young, Famous and African, he reiterated a similar belief, saying men sometimes cheat not out of malice, but due to momentary sexual cravings.
Reacting to the earlier podcast statement, actress Anita Joseph wondered if 2Baba was indirectly warning Natasha that he may not remain faithful. Media personality Daddy Freeze defended him, arguing that monogamy is not typical in African tradition and should not be seen as every woman’s right.
Meanwhile, former singer Cynthia Morgan criticized Natasha, saying she shouldn’t expect to turn 2Baba into a monogamous man overnight. Citing his age and history—seven children with three women—Cynthia said no one should be surprised at his mindset.
“Pray for 2Baba. You can’t force him into monogamy overnight,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
OAP Do2dtun also weighed in, expressing concern for the singer. He hinted that 2Baba may be under pressure, saying, “He never addresses things like this. Someone is clearly forcing him to be who he isn’t.”
