The Kebbi State Police Command has initiated a statewide enforcement operation targeting vehicles violating traffic regulations, including those with illegally tinted windows, obscured or fake plate numbers, unregistered vehicles, and unauthorised use of sirens.
Commissioner of Police CP Bello M. Sani issued strict directives to all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical units to apprehend offenders immediately.
Under the new enforcement measures, any vehicle found in violation will be impounded, with fake plates and illegal sirens confiscated on the spot.
The Command emphasized that only approved individuals and agencies are legally permitted to use sirens, including the President, Vice President, National Assembly leadership, state governors and their deputies, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, as well as authorized military, police, paramilitary, and emergency service vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, and secured bullion vans.
CP Sani reiterated that the misuse of diplomatic number plates, operation of unregistered vehicles, and illegal siren usage constitute serious offences under Nigerian law. He urged the public to comply with traffic regulations and report any violations to law enforcement authorities.
The operation aims to enhance security, curb criminal activities facilitated by unidentifiable vehicles, and ensure road safety across Kebbi State. The Police Command called for full cooperation from residents to support the initiative and maintain order on the roads.
