The Katsina State House of Assembly has urgently called on the Federal Government to intervene in the worsening security crisis across multiple communities in the state.

During Wednesday’s plenary session presided over by Speaker Alhaji Nasir Yahaya-Daura, lawmakers expressed grave concerns over the rising wave of bandit attacks.

Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar-Khamis, member representing Dutsinma Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Security, raised a motion of urgent public importance.

He highlighted the deteriorating situation in his constituency, particularly in Makera, Gammo, Karofi, and Dabawa wards of Dutsinma Local Government Area.

“The attacks in these areas are increasing daily,” Abubakar-Khamis stated. “Bandits recently killed residents and security operatives while abducting others. Our people are living in constant fear.”

While acknowledging the state government’s efforts in combating insecurity, the lawmaker appealed for additional military and security personnel deployment to the affected areas. Other legislators supported the motion, emphasizing the need to reassess current security strategies to better protect citizens and their property.

Following extensive deliberations, the Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution and forwarded its recommendations to the executive branch for immediate action. The move comes as communities across Katsina continue to face persistent violent attacks, with residents calling for more robust security measures to restore peace in the region.
