Nollywood actor and producer Odunlade Adekola has come under fire after congratulating the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, on his recent promotion.
Earlier this week, the Police Service Commission approved Adejobi’s elevation from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) — a move described by the force as a recognition of his exceptional service, professionalism, and dedication to policing in Nigeria.
Taking to Instagram, Odunlade shared a photo of the newly promoted officer with the caption:
“Congratulations, sir.
As the new DSP @adejobimuyiwa
God will bless you more, sir.”
However, the post didn’t go down well with some of his followers, who flooded the comment section with criticisms. Some accused Odunlade of ignoring alleged injustices linked to the police, while others questioned why he would applaud what they considered “illegality.”
One user wrote, “Una no see the guy hand in Omoyele Sowore’s detention right? You failed to speak up for injustice because it favours you.” Another commented, “This position shall be a curse and not a blessing because they oppress people and tell lies.”
Actor Adeniyi Johnson also joined in congratulating Adejobi, praying for greater achievements in his career.
Odunlade’s post comes just weeks after he announced the passing of his father, Pastor N.A Adekola. He shared a touching tribute on Instagram, appreciating colleagues, friends, and communities who came to pay their respects and support his family during the difficult period.
